Juicing One Day a week

So, January 1st I decided to start juicing one day a week for next year. One of the best things about juicing is that it helps your digestive system to rest and reset for the day. If I do crossfit that day I will then do a light dinner or a protein and some vegetables. No Dairy, sugars or grains.

The Benefits to Juice:
Making fresh juice a part of a well-balanced, plant-based diet is an important tool for achieving good health.

• Calorie reduction without nutrient deprivation
• Promotion of healthy eating habits
• Delicious way to consume fresh produce
• Floods the body with micronutrients

Juicing offers many life-enhancing health benefits including a faster, more efficient way to absorb immune boosting nutrients naturally found in fruits and vegetables. It provides a way to access digestive enzymes typically locked away in the fiber matrix of whole fruits and vegetables. Most commercial juices are processed and lacking in nutrition while freshly juiced fruits and vegetables are loaded with an abundance of vitamins, minerals and phytonutrients.

Drinking fresh juice can help us adopt healthier eating patterns. For those of us who do not traditionally consume many fruits and vegetables, incorporating fresh juice can be a fun and different approach to increasing consumption of these important plant foods for improved health and wellness and reaching your weight loss goals.

So some of my favorite juice blends are:

Drink Your Greens:
2 cups Baby Spinach Leaves (or 4-6 leaves of kale)
6 Celery
2 large Cucumber
1/2 Lemon
2 medium Apples
1-2 inch Ginger
1/4 – 1/2 cup Parsley Leaves

The Detoxifier:
2-3 med-lg Beets
6 Carrots
2 medium Apples
1/2 Lemon
1-2 inch Ginger

The Vision:
8 large Carrots
2-3 Navel Oranges
1-2 inch Ginger
1 inch Turmeric (optional)

Sweet Carrot:
10 large Carrots
2 medium Apples
1/4 cup Parsley (optional)

Instructions
Wash, prep, and chop produce.
Add produce to juicer one at a time.
Serve cold over ice. May store in tightly sealed jars or glasses in the refrigerator for 2-3 days. Shake or stir well before drinking.

Also I always try and buy organic fruits and vegetables when I’m juicing. Just to make sure I’m not drinking chemicals. 🙂

My Juicer:

I really like this juicer but the one I will share next is the juicer I will buy when this one dies. 🙂

These are my favorite glasses to store my juice in:
